全国で長寿２番目に認定されていた東京都足立区の男性（１１１）が、実は約３０年前に死亡していたことが２９日、分かった。自宅で一部白骨化した状態で見つかった。
男性は明治３２年７月２２日生まれ。今月２６日に足立区の職員らが１１１歳の誕生日を祝って記念品を贈るために自宅を訪問したところ、８１歳の娘が「父は誰とも会いたくないと言っている」と話し、記念品も辞退した。
その後、５３歳の孫が千住署を訪れ、「祖父は『ミイラになりたい』『即身成仏したい』と言って３０年前に自室に閉じこもったままだ」と説明。直後に同署員が自宅でミイラ化した男性の遺体を発見した。
足立区によると、高齢者の安否を確認していた地元の民生委員が男性に会うことができなかったため心配し、今年２月に区に連絡。区の担当者が訪問したが、この時も「本人が会いたくないと言っている」と家族に拒絶されていたという。
